The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is moving fast to secure a new jersey sponsor. This comes after Dream11’s sudden exit just days before the Asia Cup 2025, which begins in 15 days.
Why Did Dream11’s Deal End?
Dream11 signed a three-year sponsorship deal worth ₹358 crore in 2023. However, the government banned all real-money gaming (RMG) apps. Due to this new law, the agreement became invalid. Only six months were left in the contract.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said, “We are on mission mode. The Asia Cup is starting soon. Our next step is to fill the vacancy and explore all options in the coming days.”
BCCI to Invite Fresh Bids
The BCCI will soon release a new tender for the Team India jersey sponsorship. The process is expected to finish within a week. This ensures Team India will have a new sponsor before the Asia Cup begins.
Auto and Fintech Companies Interested
Industry experts believe the BCCI will not face challenges in attracting sponsors. Some automobile manufacturers and fintech companies are already in talks. Their interest shows the strength of the Indian cricket market.
Impact on Indian Cricket Sponsorship
The sudden end of Dream11’s deal highlights the effect of government rules on sports. While it seems like a setback, BCCI’s strong brand value gives it an edge. Big brands still want to associate with Team India’s jersey, making sponsorship demand high.
